3rd Annual North American Alpaca Shearing Contest is Coming to Ohio

The 3rd Annual North American Alpaca Shearing Contest is coming to Litchfield, OH on Saturday, March 17 at Magical Farms Alpacas beginning at 8:00am.
Alpaca shearers from North America are invited to compete in three classes: Beginner, Intermediate and Open Class. There are three criteria in each class: Quality of the shorn blanket, look of the finished alpaca, and shearing time. Classes based on all levels of experience (# of alpaca shorn/year). $2000 in prizes will be awarded. Entry fee is $69. Space is limited to 30 participants. A new Fiber Classing category has been added to promote the commercial harvest of alpaca fiber.
Volunteers are needed for: Timer/Spotter, fleece handling, alpaca handling, giber clean up, score keeping, photographer and/or videographer. To register to compete, volunteer or watch the competitors, go to www.LightLivestockEquipment.com or call 1(866)999-2821.
The North American Alpaca Shearing Contest is organized by Light Livestock Equipment & Supply, and Best Shearing Services. Sponsors include: Light Livestock Equipment & Supply, Best Shearing Services, Tooth-A-Matic and Fight-O-Matic, Beiyuan Combs & Cutters, Andis Shearers, and the New England Alpaca Fiber Pool (NEAFP). Magical Farms Alpacas is hosting the event.
