2013 DMI Property Conference

Downtown Mansfield, Inc. is excited to announce the 2013 DMI Property Conference. The conference will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the historic, Ohio State Reformatory. The conference will begin at 8:30am with refreshments and networking and will conclude at 1pm. Participants will have the opportunity to take a tour of the Reformatory and Oak Hill Cottage immediately following the conference.
The Property Conference is designed for individuals with a vested interest in local real estate development, historic preservation or community development and planning initiatives. The conference will include updates on local preservation efforts from Dan Seckel, Past Chairman of the Mansfield Historic Preservation Commission, Alan Wigton, President Richland County Historical Society and Brady Groves, President Richland County Foundation. Nathan Bevil, Ohio Historical Society, CLG and Preservation Service Manager and Michael Fleenor, Cleveland Restoration Society, Director of Preservation Services will provide discussion on current statewide preservation based initiatives and incentives. Lunch will be served at noon and feature a Keynote address from Michael Burayidi, Chair, Department of Urban Planning at Ball State University. Professor Burayidi has just completed his second book, Resilient Downtowns of Small Urban Communities. Resilient Downtowns is a guide to communities seeking to redevelop their core districts into resilient, thriving neighborhoods. Mansfield is showcased in Resilient Downtowns as a small city that has employed the best practices of residential development, civic functionality and good design practice.
