4th Annual Community Corn Roast

Food, fun, a live auction and entertainment are lined up to support a worthy cause at the 4th Annual Community Corn Roast, slated for Saturday, August 10 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The Corn Roast will be held at the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church, 2750 Mifflin Avenue, next to Hospice House.

A full menu of pulled pork, barbecue beef, hot dogs, potatoes, watermelon and sweet corn will be served for a freewill offering. Proceeds from the event will benefit Hospice’s planned outdoor area at Hospice House featuring nature trails, a woodland labyrinth and an expanded children’s area.

Also benefiting Hospice of North Central Ohio will be the evening’s live pie auction scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and a silent auction lasting until 7:45 p.m.

Children’s games and activities will be offered throughout the evening with balloon sculpting available from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. New to the event this year will be a mechanical bull which costs $5 per ride. Returning favorites include inflatables, face painting and mascot appearances.

Entertainment at the Corn Roast also includes several musical acts with Ashland’s “The Road Home,” featuring Jason and Lydia Nowakowski performing from 5:15 – 5:45 p.m. From 6 – 6:30 p.m., 10-year-old Kristin Kaufman from Mansfield will perform. Tours of Hospice House will be offered throughout the evening as well.

The silent auction winners and the raffle winner will be announced at 8 p.m. The raffle winner receives a half black angus steer, a full Berkshire hog, meat processing donated by Turk Brothers, and a chest freezer donated by Home Hardware. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event until 7:45 p.m. at a cost of $5 for one ticket or $25 for six tickets.
