Who is WVMC?
WVMC FM is a listener supported Christian radio station owned by Mansfield Christian School, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization, and has served North Central Ohio since 1979. We have frequencies in Mansfield 90.7 FM, in Ashland 91.1 FM, and in Wooster 102.7 FM. On July 1, 2013 we changed to Total Praise, WVMC FM. Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (NKJV). That’s the mission of Total Praise, WVMC FM. To encourage you in your walk with God and remind you to praise Him at all times. WVMC FM is a listener supported ministry truly focused on God and God alone!
"I like your programming change. I appreciate hearing different artists including some of the older songs." ~ Anonymous
The music on Total Praise is focused on lifting praise to God. It’s the music you sing in church, played on the radio. You already know many of the artists we play, like Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Phillips Craig and Dean, and Mercy Me. Others artists are pioneers in Christian music like Michael W. Smith and Twila Paris. Others are pioneers in the Praise and Worship music movement, like Vineyard Music, Maranatha, Don Moen, Paul Baloche, Hillsong, and Passion. For a complete list of artists that we play Click Here.
“I really enjoy the new mixture. I liked it before but I really like when the older hymns are put to new music. Keep up the good work.” ~ Matt
We also support churches and non-profit organizations by announcing their church picnic’s, concerts, spaghetti dinners for mission trips, and other events on-air and on the Community Calendar under Concert/Events at wvmcfm.com. We are supported by love gifts from families, churches and businesses that believe in our family friendly, God-honoring, music ministry. Our yearly fundraiser is called Sharathon, where we strive to raise at least half of our operating budget. All donations are tax deductible. To find out more about how you can be a sponsor or to donate to Total Praise Click Here.
But WVMC is LOTS more than your everyday radio station! It's one of about a dozen Christian radio stations in the country that is owned by a Christian school! That means students can learn about radio in small classes taught by instructors with many years of radio experience! Students learn the basics of announcing, production, and management. A radio experience, with a Christian world view.
Why a NEW WVMC?
WVMC has served North Central Ohio since 1979 and was the first Christian radio station in Mansfield. Since 2004, WVMC has worked with Way FM, a network that provided all of WVMC ‘s personalities and music, except for The Zone. As of July 1, 2013, Way FM is suspending their satellite programming and focusing on radio stations they own.
Please understand this choice was made solely by WAY FM, NOT by WVMC or Mansfield Christian School, owner of WVMC.
After praying and weighing options, we have chosen to air a Praise and Worship style of music. It’s focus is on the songs and choruses you might sing in church. It’s vertical praise, music that reminds us of our relationship to God, and draws our attention to His name and His love for us.
This change will take place at 6 a.m. on Monday, July 1st. Before the actual change, we are going to have some fun! Be listening Friday, June 28th at 3 p.m. for what that is going to be. It just wouldn't be fun if I told you EVERYTHING!
I know you may have questions. Here are a few you may have:
Why is July 1st the start date?
It’s the date selected by the Way FM network.
Why did you chose Praise and Worship music?
It came down to prayer. As we prayed and sought God on this, the phrases Scott kept hearing were “Just praise Me!” and “Just lift Me up!” Praise and Worship is also the hottest genre of Christian music right now, accounting for about 25% of total Christian music sales, according to the Salem Radio Network.
What is the new network?
It's The Word in Praise, from Nashville.
What’s happening to Wally, Katie Rose, and the rest of the Way FM staff?
Wally, Katie Rose, Zack, Betty Rock, Jeff, Melissa and the rest of the Way FM staff will continue to work for Way FM in Nashville. We will miss them!
What artists will be on Total Praise the NEW WVMC FM?
You’ll hear a great mix of artists we play now, like Mercy Me, Casting Crowns, Chris Tomlin, Kristian Stanfill, and Phillips, Craig & Dean. You’ll also hear artists you haven’t heard on the radio in a while, like Michael W. Smith, Twila Paris, Selah, and Rebecca St. James. You will also hear pioneers in the Praise and Worship music movement, including Don Moen, Passion, Maranatha, and Paul Baloche. Total Praise, The NEW WVMC FM will be more music driven than ever before, and encourage you to turn to God in worship as you go through your day.
What about my donations to WVMC?
WVMC always has been, and always will be a listener-supported station. We stay on the air only by the gifts of listeners. Regardless of format, we cannot make it without you! Our current Hour Friends and Day Sponsors will remain in place. You will continue to receive monthly statements and information from WVMC.
What about my business underwriting?
All of our business underwriters are very important to us. WVMC cannot continue in any format without your support! Business underwriting will continue as we have done before. Additional weather sponsors will be opening up, and we continue to offer creative, cost-effective ways your church or business can support WVMC FM.
What about Sharathon?
We will continue to do Sharathon each spring. As a listener-supported ministry, Sharathon is one of the ways we invite you to partner with us. You can find out more about how to financially support us by clicking HERE.
