Mazda of Wooster Artist Spotlight
This week's Artist Spotlight: Matt Maher
The Artist Spotlight is zoomed in on Matt Maher, and his new album "Saints and Sinners". Our featured song is "Deliverer". When talking about the new album, Matt wrote, "...I’ve always been inspired by hymns. My great grandmother played piano in a Baptist Church in Texas where her father was a minister. Despite all the time and distance between us, when I hear old hymns there’s a part of me that connects me with the faith of my family. One hymn that has recently spoken to me is the old hymn, “Abide With Me.” The writer, Henry Francis Lyte, was an Anglican vicar, who composed the song while suffering through tuberculosis at the age of 54. What a powerful witness to faith, in the resurrection of Christ. As the character of William Wallace in the movie Braveheart says, “every man dies…not every man lives.” Our mortality is something that we cannot escape, yet it is within our ability to witness to the love of God in the midst of our suffering that gives the cross dimension and context."
